Privacy Policy

The short version

  • We collect only what we need to sell you apps, deliver licences and updates, answer your questions and understand how the site is used.
  • We never sell your personal information.
  • Your files stay on your computer. Our desktop apps never upload them.
  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.

Who we are

This site and its apps are run by SnackyTools.com. “We” and “us” in this policy means SnackyTools.com. To reach us about your privacy, use our contact page.

What we collect, and why

When you buy an app

Payments go through PayPal. PayPal tells us your name, email address, what you bought, the price and a transaction number. It may also include the address on your PayPal account. We never see your card or bank details.

We use this to send your download link and licence key, help you with support and refunds, and keep the records tax law requires.

When you activate a licence or check for updates

Our apps send only two things: your licence key, and a random ID the app created when it was installed. The ID is not your computer’s name and not a hardware fingerprint. It just lets us count how many computers use your key. We save that ID and the date with your licence.

The app does not send your files, their contents or anything about what you do in it. Like any website, our server sees your internet (IP) address when the app connects. We use it to stop abuse, such as someone trying to guess keys.

When you give us your email for a download or our newsletter

We may ask for your email address before you download an app. We use it to send you the download, and, if you agree, news about our apps, software updates and occasional offers. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and one click takes you off the list.

When you contact us

Our contact form collects your name, email address and message. We use them only to answer you.

When you visit the site

We use Google Analytics to see how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us. It records things like the pages you view, the site that sent you, your type of device and browser, and your approximate location (country or city). It uses cookies, which are small files your browser stores, to tell new visits from returning ones. Google Analytics does not give us your name or email address.

Our shop also uses a cookie to remember what’s in your cart while you check out. If you try to log in to the site, our security tools record the IP address of failed attempts to block break-ins.

Who else handles your information

We use a few trusted services to run the business. Each gets only what it needs:

These services may store information outside your country. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Purchases and licences: for as long as your licence exists, and as long as tax law requires us to keep sales records.
  • Email list: until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact messages: as long as we need them to help you.
  • Google Analytics: for the period set in our Analytics account, at most 14 months.

Your choices and rights

  • See, correct or delete your information: ask through our contact page. If you ask us to delete a licence record, the licence stops working, and we may still have to keep sales records for tax purposes.
  • Stop our emails: click unsubscribe in any email. You’ll still get emails you need for a purchase, such as your licence key.
  • Block analytics: set your browser to refuse cookies, or install Google’s opt-out add-on. The site still works.
  • Complain: if you’re unhappy with how we handle your information, tell us first and we’ll try to fix it. You can also contact the privacy regulator where you live. In Canada, that’s the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

If you live in Europe or the UK, you have these rights under the GDPR, plus the right to object to how we use your information and to get a copy in a common file format. We handle purchase and licence data because we need it to deliver what you bought. We send marketing emails only with your consent. We use analytics and security logs because we have a legitimate interest in running a safe, useful site.

Children

Our apps are made for adults and businesses. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
